I just started 8th grade and am in one of the country's best public schools. Currently, I'm taking-
9th Grade Honors Algebra 1
Level 2 Advanced LA
Social Studies (not leveled)
Physical Science (not leveled)
(Plus, I'm in the Gifted program- have been since 3rd grade)

Last year, my grades were-
Math- A+ (99%)
LA (Level 2 Advanced)- A (96%)
Social Studies- A+ (100%)
Science- A+ (102%)
French- A+ (100%)
Gym- A+ (100%)
Health- A (95%)
Family and Consumer Sciences- A (95%)
Technology Education- A+ (101%)
Music- A+ (99%)
Art- B (86%) I can't draw/paint/sculpt for my life!

Last year, I also won an award for having the best grades of every girl in my grade, and I only got 3 questions wrong on my state's standardized test.

I don't remember my exact grades in 6th, but I had straight-A's.

EC's-
-Ballet
-Yearbook
-6th grade mentoring
-Youth Group
-Did Girl Scouts until 6th grade

rebelangel- It is? Or are you kidding?
Because we had an awful health teacher who didn’t teach us a thing, and then tested us almost every day. Or, she taught us a lot and then tested us on the things she didn’t teach. Plus, we weren’t allowed to study (I know, she was kind of crazy).

That was a joke! What I think rebelangel means is that your scores were so good you don’t need to worry about a 95%. Actually, 95% is good anyway!

You seem good in academics, but I have one question: are you taking Level 2 Advanced LA again? That would make them wonder why if you got a 96% last year.

How long have you been doing ballet? Are you en pointe?

Thank goodness, I freaked out for a second!

I’m not taking it again. Level 2 Advanced LA is different for every grade. Like, I was taking 7th Grade Level 2 Advanced LA last year, and this year I’m taking 8th Grade Level 2 Advanced LA. Does that make sense?

I’ve been dancing since I was 2, but I had to stop in 4th grade due to injury (I have Illiopsoas Tendonitis, brought on by ballet). I was allowed to dance again in 6th grade, but chose not to so I could focus on academics (one of my best choices, in my opinion). I started again last year, and am taking Intermediate ballet. I am not en pointe right now, but I hope to be by the end of this year.

@ballet…oh gosh, I should have been more careful! I’m sorry!! I was totally kidding. Your background looks great and certainly put mine to shame when I was your age. I was just teasing you (lovingly of course!!)

You have great stats-it just comes down to what they think of you. Make sure to play up that you are continuing ballet after an injury, but are definitely interested in dancing. Make sure that you sure that you are ready to take the SSAT, as even if you have good grades the test is different from one that would normally be given at your school (well, mine at least).

Your stats look good, but ifyou already are preetty good academically, you should probably focus on ECs and inerviews, etc. i dont think a 96% and a 99% are too different. appart from that you look great!
will you chance me too? Im same as you (and tons of others im sure) right now…
