please chance me for harvard/yale?

I’m an Asian Indian female who lives in MA
Class Rank: I know I’m in the top 5% at least
SAT: 1510 (but I’m planning on retaking this)
Subject tests: bio- 760, I’m taking chem and math ii this august
AP courses: bio, lang, euro, spanish, bc calc, chem, lit, physics
I have all As except for one B+ my freshman year in geometry, and I have pretty much taken the most academically rigorous courses my HS offers (we can’t take APs until our junior year tho)

ECs:
Kathak (Indian classical dance)- I’m part of a competitive performance ensemble that performs all over New England and we perform in professional shows; I’ve also won many competitions
Currently studying to get my degree in North Indian classical singing (I have my diploma currently)
I spent two summers working at a biotech company as an animal technician + I had the opportunity to do some lab work
I’m in dance team at my school where I choreographed and taught ballet-kathak fusion pieces + I introduced kathak dance into the choreo–> im planning on doing a presentation on ballet-kathak fusion at boston childrens museum and maybe a university (my dance teacher teaches @ tufts+wellesley so she’s seeing if she can get me a spot there)
other typical stuff: piano, tutoring kids, worked at kumon, shadowing at doctor’s office, hospital + soup kitchen volunteering hours (around 400), math + sci team, sci olympiad, I went to DECA states, working at a physical therapy clinic currently
I know that my common app essay is really good + i’m sure that my recs will be great too (my teachers and my counselor love me)
I’m worried that my test scores aren’t amazing bc I’m not a great test taker + that I don’t have anything “special” (i am kinda hoping all my dance stuff will be my “spike”?). i really just want to know if i should even consider these schools; my counselor says i should at least try but i dont want to apply if i have no chance of getting in. thanks!

Harvard’s acceptance rate is 5.4%. Yale’s is 6.3%. I think that your chances are probably pretty close to the same. You have great stats and your ECs look interesting, but unless I missed it you don’t have a particular “hook” that would up your odds.

i think you are similar to thousands of other students applying to harvard and yale. your stats are very good but it has become so ridiculously competitive to get into these schools so one can never tell. if your heart if set on these two schools, i’d suggest you apply early. no matter what they tell you, it does have an advantage. take a look at the percentage of their freshman class that is filled via the early round. pick one and go with it. your chances are as good as anyone else’s. good luck!
