A dedicated shadow of a Psychiatrist, Neurologist and Neurosurgeon, have shadowed two summers, five days a week, ten hours a day. Observed clinical evaluations as well as surgeries by scrubbing into the OR.
Worked as a Receptionist at a Medical Office.

Volunteer Service:
Founded a non profit organization in effort to spread autism awareness. Have participated in several Autism Walks, conventions, and fairs. Have spoken to major political figures and communities about the need to spread awareness about autism. I am very dedicated and am passionate about this volunteer work. Have spent over 400 hours volunteering in many variations for the organization. This volunteer work is a major part of my application and pushed me to enter the field of medicine.
Over 300 Hours of Hospital Volunteer work, received award for dedication to this volunteer work.
Served as a camp counselor for two summers.

Thank you very much for your time in chancing me, I truly appreciate it.

I think you have a chance at the Ivies for sure! Keep working hard! Upper Ivies are impossible to tell of course, but for Brown/Cornell/Upenn I think you have a shot! Look at schools like WashU as well which have direct med programs!

How can Brown, Cornell or UPenn be matches?

Cornell: High match
Brown: Reach (PLME or not)
UPenn: Reach (definitely reachable)
JHU: Match/High match
UMKC BA/MD: Low match/Match
GWU BSc/MD: Match
Drexel BSc/MD: Match/High match
Penn State BSc/MD: Match/high match

ATTENTION: Please disregard ACT scores, I inadvertently forgot to erase them as I copied the template from another users statistics page. I will be taking the ACT in September. Haha, isn’t that awkward :/.

Your medical experience and extracurriculars will definitely help your chances with these schools. Several people from my (public) school were accepted into Brown and Harvard with far less experience and activities.

Cornell: Match
UPenn: Low reach
Brown: Match (early decision)
Johns Hopkins: Match
GW: Match, maybe almost a safety
Penn State: Match

I definitely think you’re a strong contender for Brown and Cornell, probably even UPenn, but you never know. I wouldn’t be too worried, especially if you’re going with the early decision. Good luck :)

You’re a couple hundred points below the statistical mean for white guys going to any of these programs. Your clubs seem incredibly unlegit (neuroscience/premed? really? >.>). I’m not sure that shadowing doctors at this stage in your life is super useful, but maybe you can write a super convincing essay about how badly you want to be a neurosurgeon. Volunteering is pretty impressive, I’d focus hard on that.

UPenn: Way reach
Cornell: Reach-Match
Brown ED: Match-Reach
JHU: Possibly… they REALLY want their med kiddies but your stats suck and you’re not Korean.
GW: Yeah
Penn State: Yerp
Drexel: Uhhuh.

I appreciate your brutal honesty and I thank you for your time but I don’t agree with the “unlegit” clubs statement. Also, if Cornell and such are very high reaches, how are BA/MD Programs a “Yeah”?

Three units of science means years in high school. I have taken Chemistry, Biology, and Physics as well as AP Biology and will be taking AP Physics. I was under the impression you meant Chemistry SAT 2. Trust me I have done my research and that’s why I am not applying to any BA/MD Programs that require Chemistry SAT 2.

I said chemistry on the transcript, not sure why you are interpreting it any differently than what I said.

If you have done one year of chemistry, then most find it acceptable. However, I think you would be better off doing Chemistry AP rather than Physics if it is available. Medical schools require 2 years of chemistry during undergrad but need only one year of physics.

I apologize. Well I would but the AP Chem teacher in my school does not have a great track record and does not teach very well. I also prefer physics personally. Thank you for your input :).
