I made two section for grades because my Freshmen year as bad for these reasons (which my counselor will document during her letter of recommendation) and after I talked to an admission officer during my visit he said that they'll look more heavily on my Sophomore and Junior grades more because of this:

1) I moved from a small private school in NY to a large public school in Colorado
2) I was sick for 20+ days (I have it diagnosed and documented). I had to sometimes take tests right after coming back from being sick with no time to catch up.

“First Place iPhone App Developer Competition.”

I am cheering you on : MIT! MIT! MIT!

But I see you’re interested in Political Science.

@lanahere

Yeah, I’m good at coding and I like it, but I’m fascinated in poli sci/IR too. But I fell in love with the WashU campus when I visited. The atmosphere, the classrooms, the campus, all was amazing so I really want to go there!

@ivyleaguefan

Is that based off of if I get the 34 super score?

Thanks

Correction: 3.975 Weighted GPA including Freshmen year.

WU is one of those schools that really values interest in their school…i think it’s partlyy paranoia that they’re often a 2nd choice for kids who don’t get into ivies, or top-tier others (stanford, georgetown, etc.) so having them as your dream school is a big plus. And you need to bring across that interest. You’ve visited, that’s good…and then do you have the name of yoru regional contact…I would send him/her semi-regular notes when anything big (academically) happens…stats-wise, you look strong.

@southernhope

I have already contacted my regional contact in the past this year after she visited my school. I also had an interview on campus, so I’ve definitely been showing a lot of interest! :)

You definitely have a really good chance. Being Hispanic is a HUGE plus.

Because you’ve shown a lot of interest, do not need financial aid, and are a URM, I’d be VERY surprised if you don’t get in. Though college admissions seem to be a crapshoot these days, these factors should help you out a great deal at WashU. Good luck!

Yes I got in with a 34 too. I would say Hispanic + no aid sounds like a very sound formula, so I do think you have a great chance.

I think you have a very strong chance at being admitted ED. Keep up the good work in school and continue to show interest!

@DestinysNephew

How do I continue to show interest at this point? I’ve talked to my regional admissions person, am on the mailing list, had an interview, and visited the campus. What more could I do?

@MyNameIsClay

Yes, you have covered most of the bases. If an admissions officer visits your school for an information session, however, you can show interest by going to that. Otherwise you have expressed your interest very well, and I think you’re in good shape.

@southernhope I would say Georgetown and Wash U are on the same tier.

@southernhope I think the masses think WashU cares about displayed interest more than WashU does. I am an admit this year that showed zero interest and my application was a middle of the pack application. I think WashU cares about the CA essay 1000x more than they care about your interest.
@quotable definitely.

@Neutrality

What do you think my chances are?
