I am four days into my junior year. I am planning on applying to Rutgers (School of Arts and Sciences) as soon as possible. It is my #1 choice and has been for several years. I live in Florida, but I lived in New Jersey until I was in 5th Grade. I have several family members with various degrees from RU and most of my family lives within forty minutes. I am pretty sure that I can get in, but I have some doubts. Here is a summary of my high school career so far:
By next week I will have a GPA of about 3.2-3.3/4. Over the years, I have accumulated equal numbers of A’s and B’s, and about 5 C’s. I’m going to finish with an F in Latin for the semester, which is obviously of great concern to me. I’m taking the semester again online over the summer, and I expect to get an “A”. The “F” will then be factored out of my GPA and replaced by the “A” but the “F” will remain on my transcript. By the time I graduate, I will have 11 AP classes (AP Human Geo-4, AP World-4, AP Lang-3, AP Lit, U.S. History, and Psych-Took this year, scores TBD, AP Gov, Macro, Art History, Euro, and Stats-Taking senior year.) I got a 32 on my ACT in September of my Junior Year and I’ll take it again in September of my Senior Year and I’m confident that I can get a 34. I am an Eagle Scout, I have been on two two-week trips abroad that were both heavily subsidized by my local Jewish Federation, and I am on two committees at the Jewish Federation (Teen Engagement Program and Fighting Anti-Semitism Today). I don’t know if this makes any difference, but I am a white male. I also plan on applying to UMass Amherst, the University of Delaware, the University of Maryland, the University of Connecticut, and the University of Vermont as a safety. Please tell me if someone like me can get into Rutgers-New Brunswick.
