anyone please?

You just did this same chance thread a few weeks ago. How many times are you going to do this? You have already made the decision to apply, so why does it matter what a few strangers in cyber space think after the fact?

Where are on your application are you going to put this??

heyy

why have u put ur black belt in Taekwando as a minor?

I got my black belt during 2nd grade. Could I write about that on my application??

yeah I have been training for 7 years and I got my black belt when I was in Year 9 although I have started coaching Karate to kids now (Year 12). Where should I be putting this on the app?

Thanks :)

Basically, if you are ranked first in your class with a 4.0 gpa and SAT score of 2270 you are in the ballpark for admissions (i.e. not an automatic reject).

What counts is the rest of your application…how you present yourself in your essays etc and what your letters of recs have to say about you.

During Admit Week, I had breakfast with one of the Adcoms. I asked how much time she gave to each application. I think she said something like 7 - 10 minutes. So, you have 10 minutes to convince the readers (2 people read each application) that you are incredibly unique, passionate etc and will be a tremendous asset to their school.

What I tell my students is that you know you’ve done a good job if the readers can sum you up in a few words, i.e. “smart kayak kid.” Focus on a couple of things you really want to emphasize and don’t clutter it up with too much peripheral stuff.

Rather than post “Chance” threads…what is really helpful is to ask a total stranger to read your essays and then ask him to describe you in three words. If those three words are how you want to present yourself to Stanford…great! If not, then you have some tweaking to do.

Oh, and the “total stranger” should be an adult (preferably an adult that is somewhat familiar with college admissions).

well. the essays i’ve written are pretty good quality. except i’m having issues with my “why stanford essay” i feel like it’s not unique enough…even though it is pretty unique…i don’t know if its a good idea to talk about programs at stanford in the essay because i don’t want to sound like a stanford brochure…any suggestions?
