oh, and i'm also applying to cornell, columbia (fu), northwestern, u. maryland - college park, and mit. i'm thinking of applying to u penn, wash u, swarthmore, brown, uc berkeley, or dartmouth

any other advice?
also, would my chances increase if i applied SCEA versus RD?

thanks everyone - i really appreciate all the help.

anyone? please?

I think you have as "decent" as a chance as many applicants, which isn't very reassuring. One question: I have signed up for a "piano short course", do you think it would be possible to learn to play in 30 minute sessions weekly for about 8 weeks?

^bump^
any other opinions?

What are you MOST important EC's? Tell me what you are going to put on your application since you cannot send in a separate resume or any extra info.

definitely my school newspaper; i've worked harder in that one activity than anything else

your chances are slightly better scea; i think the acceptance rate is 19% early vs. like 12% regular.

what do you guys know about stanford's admission on a school-to-school basis? would my chances decrease if a more qualified candidate from my school applied alongside me?

to uvajoe-
it all depends on your definition of "playing the piano." i learned "how to play" by myself, on one rainy day (literally), before i took my piano course at school. i had piano for 45 minutes every day at school.

How have past students at Blair done with Stanford?

whoa...how did you know i go to blair?
and well, our track record is similar to the stats given for stanford's acceptances. our average accepted gpa has been 3.93; average accepted sat 1548. both stats are slightly higher for early action.

decent chance...

high five Maryland Distinguished Scholar lol. I got semi-Finalist Did you actually go to the recognition thing? Lt. Gov. Steele was actually pretty funny (his son goes to my school.

Anyway, I'd say you've got a decent shot.

haha yeah, I went... he is a funny guy

lol good luck... i'm doing SCEA too
