Also what do you think my chances for UCM/UCI are? Thanks!
@Gumbymom Hello, if possible can you please chance me for UCM, UCR, and UCI. Thanks I appreciate it!
Assuming your UC GPA is 3.2, I think UCM is probably your best bet since the UC’s tend to be very GPA focused and your GPA is well below the 25th percentile however, your SAT is above the 75th percentile for both UCR and UCM. You have applied to a very competitive major and academic performance is very important in succeeding as an Engineering student. If you have some extenuating circumstances that impacted your GPA, then hopefully these were addressed in your personal insight essays. UC’s can be very unpredictable and hopefully you have some solid safety schools on your list. Best of luck and as long as a program is ABET accredited, you will get a good education at many schools beyond the UC’s.
UCM: 50/50 High Match
UCR: Reach but you have a chance at your alternate major if not in the Engineering college
UCI: High Reach
2018 Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.00-3.39 capped weighted and not major specific:
UCI: 1%
UCR: 15%
UCM: 45%
2018 Data:
25th - 75th percentiles for SAT:
UCI: 1230-1490
UCR: 1130-1380
UCM: 1020-1280
2018 UC capped weighted GPA averages:
UCI: 4.13
UCR: 3.81
UCM: 3.71
I don’t have much to say about my GPA other than having some sort of upward trend(bad in 10th and okay in 11th). I got into CSULB for mechanical so it would be my backup.
CSULB is an excellent backup and might be a better option than UCM if accepted.
You did state that your grades suffered since your Mother was your Grandmothers caretaker during her illness. Did you address this situation in one of your personal insight essays?
Yes! I did and my grades were the lowest at that point but went up after that.
@Gumbymom Thanks for the help Gumbymom, I got rejected from UCM and UCR but got into UCSC. I am pleasantly surprised =).
UCSC is a great option so congratulations.
