Does being young for your grade affect your chances in any way?(don't know if it will;the class of '10 is mostly born in 1992, while i was born in 1993).

Please tell me my chances at UPenn ED.

Thanks

I will chance you, if you tell me how to fix my iphone 2g that I dropped in the toilet.
Everything works, except the screen touch. Help!

Okay as to chances:
age is not going to make a difference.
But it is impossible to get a sense of chances without the SAT scores.

thanks! but cant you give me an estimation or something of what type of chance those sat scores will give me?

check your pm for the iphone information ;)

With a 2150 and a good application you'll be in the running. Since you're just top 10% in your class, the higher you can get the SATs the better. You'll also have a much better chance if you don't need aid.

aid shouldn't affect me because i am a canadian citizen, and they are need-blind towards canadians, americans, and mexicans

I believe you fit the profile for UPenn. However, since it IS UPenn, nothing is guaranteed. Your chances should be good though

thanks Egypt500!!

anyone else?!

Yeah, I think you definitely have a shot. You got some unique talents and you have the extracurricular.

Ok I know I said I'm too tired to think of chancing stats, but this one is kind of easy, so I'll do it :)

Firstly, I'd really try to get your rank up to least top 5. Not necessary, but one of those things that I think you should aspire for (I don't know, maybe that's too big a jump for one year, but def. try to get it up as high as you can)

I agree that it's kind of difficult to chance without SAT scores, but IF you achieve that 2150+, you'll be in fairly good shape in this department.

Next your extra cirrics. Something that instantly sticks out to me is that you speak MANY languages. This is absolutely unique, and I suggest you write about it for your essay topic (it's NEVER to early to start thinking of topics). Keep in mind I'm assuming there's some sort of story or motivation for learning/knowing so many languages. If this is you passion, great!

Other ideas to expand: Teaching at an orphanage in Pakistan (can be as good as you make it. Did you teach physics? did you teach english?)
- Definitely talk about your cricket experience, because that is something different, and you're acclaimed at the NATIONAL level: always impressive (Btw, I believe India has the superior team in comparison to Pakistan :P)

MAYBE talk about your "business" but I feel you're using that term rather loosely. If you don't make a significant revenue, then I wouldn't dedicate essay space to it. Of course, you can always expand this into something greater if that's what you want to do. If you don't like the idea then don't waste your time. Use it to further your language education or something you ENJOY (again, I'm assuming you enjoy the challenge of learning language)

Besides that, yes you definitely have a chance. But keep in mind, the lower you SAT I, SAT II, GPA, rank, etc.... the more you'll fall short of the more objectively qualified applicants, and the better your essay will have to be. Remember the topics I mentioned above.

wow thanks a lot astonisher!
anyone else?? :)

u have great chances bc of ur extracurrics, make sure ur sat's are good and ur in!!

chance back

although i AM trying to prepare as hard as i can for my first SAT, im hoping that my ECs will help me get in :)

my bad
my UW GPA is actually 3.91 (didnt calculate it correctly the first time)

argh i cant edit my first post!
i want to edit my UW GPA, which is actually 3.91

your def in dude, use your hooks (for.,your like quint lingual)

but the only ones i can actually read, write, and speak in (to a great extent) are english, urdu, and arabic
hindi: i can only speak
french: read and write, but im not that good at speaking

get 2200+ on SAT, get 750+ on 3 SAT subjects and I can tell you that ur chances are amazing....wow, great EC's and amazing knowledge of languages...I wish I could know so many languages!!! Good luck, work hard this year!

being lingual mostly means you know the language by tongue, meaning u can speak...I mean if you write an essay about that, killer man...but in score terms i wouldn't say ud need that high of grades as BigWeight says, to have a good shot 2150 on SAT and 700+ on SAT II and idk ACT im not familiar

Thanks guys!
Although French doesn't really count as a language I can speak fluently, I'll make sure I do emphasize on English, Urdu, Hindi, and Arabic.
