Your GPA and ACT score are certainly a bit low for Yale, but your environment, life difficulties, and connections to the school will certainly help you. Yale is a crapshoot for everyone, so I cannot accurately chance you. If you express yourself in your essay and present yourself well, I’m sure that you’ll have a shot.

Many people can score a 30 on the ACT while taking loads of AP courses and participating in music programs, but very few can do so while homeless and living in a dangerous neighborhood with a drug addict father. If you capitalize on this, I’m sure you can stand out within the applicant pool. Good luck!

Yikes. Your stats are well below average but aren’t an automatic rejection. I think if your essay is as interesting as it sounds, you might have a chance.

Good luck! You have some very interesting pieces to your application that will help you. That being said, Yale is highly highly selective (as you probably know) and even the most qualified applicants will get rejected sometimes. Make sure you have backup schools that you will love just as much!
