bump again D: need more opinions

Your chances are extremely good at all of these colleges. A “good” unweighted GPA in the US would be 3.8 or higher. Top 10 in country would be truly impressive in India less so in Singapore. I’ve visited both Carnegie Mellon and U.Mich and your stats (aside from GPA) would put you solidly in 50 percentile range. Some other colleges to consider, not as widely known -Franklin W.Olin and Rose Hulman. Both are extremely strong engineering colleges with ver generous financial and merit aid. Maybe your class rank offsets your GPA somewhat or you have overcome a difficult upbringing

I have had a pretty cushioned up bringing but yes, my class was really competitive - and my school doesn’t produce a class rank. I just lost interest in Grade 11 but tried my best to pick it up in Grade 12 Really regretting it - hoping my ECs and above average SAT can pull me up for these schools D: Thanks for the chance anyway

@nocheatingbro waheyyy another chess player, and thanks I will get to you asap. Also there are some schools here which are probably easier/ harder than others, I would love some specific chancing :)

Umich and CMU would be low reaches at worst, everything else is a match or a safety. Nationally-ranked chess player will trump a lot of other criteria and, I agree, you should try one more (private?) school roughly at UVA/UMich level.
UVA - are you a girl? Or actually, even if you’re a normal (not criminal) boy! If you’re admitted, make your attending conditional to the steps taken to protect girls from predators. (If you don’t know why I’m saying this, go to the Parents’ Forum).

@myos1634 Oh-I am not a girl but I am aware of this situation! and what schools would u recommend? Does NYU stern (information systems) sound like a bit of a stretch? :/

Bump

NYU math (CAS) or NYU Poly may be interested in your profile.

@MYOS1634 Ok will consider them instead of stern, thanks! - bump

bump D:

Carnegie Mellon ED (Information systems) - reach, math might hurt you a bit
UVA EA (Engineering) - match
UIUC EA (Engineering) - match
USC RD (Information Engineering AND undecided (pls chance for both!)) - reach, friend got in with 2200+ and 40+ IB
Purdue EA (Engineering) - match
UMich EA (Engineering) - small reach
Penn State (Engineering) - match
Lehigh (Engineering) - match

I think you should actually apply for 1 or 2 more more prestigious schools, good chance for most of these schools though :)

@cedartreee Oh usc accepts kids 36 and onwards from my school, infact schools like UVA and UMich are probably a tad harder according to our naviance D: But thanks for the chances! Yea 5 in hl math will hurt me for cmu, but HL math was so hard :’( and I really don’t have the confidence to apply to more reachy schools;however, I am ED2ing Emory :)

@kinaralah ohh i see that’s good And wow, I always thought USC was harder, maybe we’ve seen different stats I’m probably applying to Emory too! Maybe we’ll see each other there

@cedartreee
ahahaha cool! Same IB score, same SAT score and same university?! That would be slightly creepy to say the least lol XD
