Please chance me, OOS student! :)

I come from a very competitive public school in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago, IL, and I'm applying ED to Northwestern, but I'm also applying to many other schools, like UCLA/USC, just in case. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, and must say I miss my hometown that I love! Also, being a Persian-American, I believe Westwood would be an amazing place to live by ;). Here are my stats:

Class Rank: 16%, 121/720, I think 2-3 other students applying to UCLA
UW GPA: 3.77 out of 4
W GPA: 4.2 out of 4
ACT: 29 (only took it once, got a 32 on my recent practice)
SAT: will be taking it on Nov.5, I expect to get a 2100 give or take some, preparing a lot
ECs: 4 yrs (2yrs varsity) of Track, 2 yrs of varsity football, was a BIG leader in both, speech team, worked for my Dad's business for several 100 hours, worked for Brother's business over summers, will be co-founding a weightlifting club at my school in a few weeks
Recs: Solid, one of my teachers is a NU alumni if that makes a difference (doubt it though)
Essay: My AP Lit teacher tells me its top-tier but could be better, if anyone trustworthy wants to see I'd be happy to PM you!
Senior schedule: 5 AP classes, only 1 non-AP, 1 Honors class
Classes from past years: 2 APs, 1 Honor in Jr. Yr, and several honors through Fr-So. yrs.

Anything I'm missing?? Anyhow, I am very passionate about my track experience and will make it known on my application, my counselor believes it could really impress AdComs.

End of the line what do you think? I know my ACT isn't in the 31-33 range, but I strongly believe I will do great on the SAT.

First of all, I don’t think that having a rec from a NU alum will help with UCLA! Plus, if I remember correctly, UCLA doesn’t even consider letters of recommendation.

How did you do on your AP exams?

You may want to use UCLA’s formula for weighting your GPA.

Being OOS always helps your chances. GPA is ok, did you use the UC GPA formula for calculating weighted/unweighted though? How do you compare to your peers applying to UCLA? (UC’s love students who have great stats relative to their hs peers). Extra curriculars sound great.

The biggest question mark is the SAT. If you get that 2100 you are confident about, IMO you have a good shot. Also, UC’s don’t accept any letters of rec.

good luck!

I should also add that I heard from a reputable source that UCLA is looking to increase their OOS student enrollment, so that bodes well for you.

LMAO ooops about the rec, I basically copy & pasted this topic from my NU chances thread but thought I got all my NU specific stuff out…hahaha so sorry! But thanks everyone :D
