ACT is a little low, you might want to try and get that up a little higher (and you should also try and take the SAT as soon as possible, in case you do better on that test compared to the ACT).

You have great grades, amazing rank, and good extracurriculars, I would say you’re in ED Northwestern and maybe even UChicago, but the rest are all reaches for anyone with your stats. WashU and JHopkins are a slightly easier to get in than the others (so I would say low-reach for those two) but for the rest it’s always a crapshoot to who gets in.

Try and improve your ACT/SAT and you’ll have good chances at those colleges.

ya i know i need to improve test scores. btw what do u think i should get in each test including subject tests.

Well here’s what you should have:
atleast 2200-2300+ SAT, 33-34 ACT, and to NOT say that you work at your mom’s company.

Well your ‘core’ profile is pretty impressive. But I’d suggest forming some sort of ‘hook’, like perhaps organize some special project at your mom’s (or not your mom’s ^^^^) company and have some manager there write you one kick ass letter of rec.

Stanford- Reachish, a bit on the higher end though, but not the full ‘high reach’
Upenn- Reach, maybe a little less then Stanford
Columbia- see Stanford
Duke- Reach
WashU- Reach
Northwestern- Reach
UChicago- Reach (though shouldn’t be too bad here at all, they lose lots of their apps to lower ivies and stuff, low yields and stuff)
JHop- Reach, though a bit better chances here than Chicago/Northwestern

I’d consider applying to Cornell too, write some good essays, and ED and you stand strong chances there.

It’s very difficult to provide a valid gauge of your chances without test scores, but your grades and extracurriculars are above average for even these schools it seems. In order to ensure your competetiveness for admission at top schools you should strive for AT LEAST a 2150, preferably higher, and solid 750s+ on your SAT II tests.

lol about the mom’s company thing. Thanks for the feedback though I appreciate it.

I would advise somehow demonstrating a deep interest in one EC/subject matter bc you don’t seem to have a focus and your ECs are a bit scattered, especially bc you have a lot of 2 yr commitments. I know that is totally not your fault though. However everyone seems to get the scattered EC reply on their chance me posts so I would not worry too much.

In regards to volunteering, some one had told me that if it’s a small commitment don’t put it on your app. For example, I volunteered at a 5k and it only took me 6-7 hours so I’m not planning on putting that on there bc it’s not a serious, leadership thing that colleges are interested in. Consequently that would rule out some of your volunteering (ie market day)

However, I think you have a great chance at a lot of those schools with your good GPA and rank. I’d have to see standardized test scores to give you more accurate feedback but I’d say that you have an excellent chance at all but stanford, Columbia, and UPenn which would all be reaches.

Don’t have a chance thread but would you mind helping me out as well? <a href=“Hosa - Applying to College - College Confidential Forums”>Hosa - Applying to College - College Confidential Forums; Thanks!

If you get a 2300+ SAT score, you will be set as the rest is totally solid.
