-Stanford (EA): Reach (Stanford loves sports and research experience, so don’t give up hope here.)
-Univeristy of Michigan: I do not know how in-state admissions work for UMich.
-University of Pittsburgh: Safety
-Harvard: Reach
-Penn: Reach
-UCLA: High Match (Because of OOS status)
-UCB: Low Reach (Again…
-Northwestern: Low Reach
-University of Florida: Safety
-USC: Match

It’s hard to stand out as a biochem person. There are just so many people who claim to be passionate about the field, so I am not the most optimistic on the reach schools. You’re just not different enough, but you never know what niche you might fill.

Chance back?

One of my classmates made Stanford with little research, no sports, 2160 on SAT, no ACT, ranked #2…he was a good speaker and probably gave a great interview, and good essays but you should definately try for Stanford!

@teenbodybuilder Thanks for the feedback!

@DoingThings Thanks for the info! Although my research was in biochem, I actually intend to study either psychology or pre-medicine during undergrad. Do you think that makes a difference?

@laserslp thanks, and yeah, I heard a lot of the selective colleges tend to be kind of random in selecting students.

You want to do what you can to show a strong interest in something. I think it would sound good if you present your long term goals and what you like about the connections between biochemistry, psychology, and medicine. I don’t think pre-med is not a major or concentration at these schools, so I would explain what you like about psychology in context. If the discussion isn’t genuine, though, they may be able to tell.

@DoingThings Sound advice. I’ll definitely keep that in mind, thanks!
