thanks to anyone who replies with an honest answer

president of any clubs? varsity sport captain?

I would take a science and math SAT II but that’s just me…

Do the above and I am sure you will get in…

im not really a sports guy and im working on a club for my grad project that i can call myself founder and president. also im not going to be majoring in any type of science

Lets be completely honest with ourselves, you are not competing just nationally , you are competing on an international level, in addition you are a white male? whether or not you like sports you should at least try to get a varsity letter under your belt. Your club idea sounds good, just make sure you execute it.

I just feel like math and science are stronger subjects that history when it comes to admissions but thats my opinion, you can take w/e you want, keep in mind you don’t declare majors to 2nd year for most arts and science students.

make sure you emphaisis the things you did for an extended amount of time, because alot of your stuff is less than one year

I think you have a good shot, in my honest opinion

bigshot3008, I cannot believe you are the same person who has been offering encouraging advice to the guy on the other thread with the 2.8 GPA in his junior year.

this applicant does not, in any way, shape, or form, need a varsity letter under his belt. he has strong grades, high test scores, and a consistent record of extracurricular involvement. i’m not saying he’ll get in, but adding a varsity letter to his record at this point is just immaterial.

You look like a very strong applicant. Also, the NMF application will be given to you some time in Sept. If UVa is your number one choice, be sure to write it on the application (there’s a place to list “first choice school” and in Mar., if you reach Finalist standing then that school gets a letter saying you are a NMF and they are your #1 choice). Think it helps a bit for admissions to know that you will accept the spot if offered. Just one more nudge in the acceptance direction is my thought. My S listed UVa as first choice and he’s heading there this fall :). Good luck!

Folks,

The UVa forum is a fantastic forum. I personally think that it’s one of the best on CC because we have so many current students, current UVa parents, and alumni who post here. I think there are better ways to tap into the great information these people have than to ask them about admission chances.

A while back, the CC admins created an entire forum just for those who want to play the “chances” game.

Unfortunately, I feel that our forum gets cluttered with chances threads posted by those who aren’t aware of the dedicated sub-forum. I don’t know if it will work, but I thought I’d post a thread addressing this to see if we can cut down on the chances clutter and keep the more interesting or more pressing threads on the front page.

Thanks for reading,
Dean J

Just making sure everyone is aware of this…
