year after high school plans- a gap year in isreal in a religious institution
other- i skipped 8th grade

semester 2 of ninth grade my parents were splitting up so that caused a lot of stress and some bad games

semester one of tenth grade i lived with another family and went to school in another city, the family i lived with was unstable, and i had to move back, and my grades and finals and everything got all messed up so i had to do first and second semester of tenth grade in one semester (including starting and studying for all ap's)

i took ap bio at age 13 and got a 4

all four years of high school i attended a dual curriculum school. it was secular academics and religious subjects (we had at least 6 classes of jewish classes each year). both types of classes had tests, finals, projects, and nightly homework. because of this, i had school until five, and had little time after school

i want to be a biomedical researcher and want to major and get a phd in biology

so please let me know what you think!

You’re missing some of the most important stuff, like SAT, SAT subject tests, GPA, or the ACT. All of these AP’s and out of school shenanigans come second to these mandatory requirements. These are also usually the main indicators of ones chance, of you’re not being recruited for a sport or something.

sorry-
here is my sat stuff ( i forgot to put it on my post)

sat II’s

  • modern hebrew language 790
    -Biology M 750
    -Math level 1 760

sat’s

reading- 750
math-730
writing-720

grade 9 gpa
semester 1- 4.6 semester 2-3.8
grade 10 gpa
semester 1- 4.6 semester 2-4.7
grade 11 gpa
semester 1- 4.5 semester 2- 4.5
grade 12 gpa
semester 1-4.6 semester 2-4.875

OP- I think you may have a decent chance. I go to a Jewish high school also, so I know how you feel with ending school at 5. My problem is, my gpa may be around a 3.9 when I graduate from hs (I’m a sophomore so last year it was a 3.8ish and now it will be a 3.9) but I don’t have a lot of time for extracurriculars because of the long day. How did/do u manage your time? Do u think colleges would understand these things?

when you apply to college, your high school will send what is called a school profile with any other official materials (such as your transcript). That profile will detail information about the school, what courses are offered, and what opportunities the students will have. Columbia wants to know how well you are doing within the context of your school, so class rank and rigor of curriculum is somewhat more important than straight-up GPA. It looks like you have a very rigorous course load and have done well academically, which is good. Your test scores are good but not amazing, I might retake it to try for a 2250+. Focus on your essays - almost all Columbia applicants have high numbers, the essays are where the school is able to see if you are a good fit. You might also want to reorganize your list of ECs in order of importance and focus on playing up the ones that really matter to you. Good luck!
