Hi,

I am a senior going to school in PA. I applied to Gtown EA and was deferred. I thought my essays were satisfactory, and I submitted lots of test scores:

ACT- 32 composite, 33 super-scored
SAT- 1400/1600 super-scored, CR 670, Math 730
Three subject tests: 680, 710, 630 (Math 2, Biology, US, respectively)
High school GPA: 4.73/5.2, ~3.8/4

4 AP's Sophomore year, 5 AP's Junior year, 4 AP's Senior year

I know that I am within the median for most of my stats. I'm a little concerned about the generally lower subject tests and with the competition from my school. My school is usually ranked in the top 3 public schools in PA, and thus, there is a lot of competition among classmates when it comes to college, especially in a senior class of 500. I know of 4 people admitted to Georgetown EA and I know many more have applied. I know school quotas are not "supposed" to be in college admission decisions, but I am always suspicious about that....

It would be great if you could tell me your opinions. Thanks!

Also, I have many out of school things that I do. I sing, and I am in both plays and musicals. I am also President of an organization called Peer Mediation, a school club with 113 members that promotes a positive social climate in our school, in addition to providing support to new students and students having a hard time with high school. It involves over 120 hours of work a year, at least at my position.

In all honesty, you look like you’re right on the border. Your sat, gpa, and act aren’t exemplary but they’re absolutely not gonna keep you out of the running. Usually when I look at someone who’d like to be chance’d, I usually make a decision but you seem very borderline in my eyes.

I know this may not be what you wanted to hear but hopefully you’re a “glass-half-full” kind of person and can see this for the fact that it means you made the right decision by applying.

Just to put this in perspective, I am a junior who will be applying to gtown as well and only base my opinion off of comparing you with other results threads of years passed.

Good luck!

I appreciate your honesty. I know how random the college admissions process seems, but I’m glad to know I’m in the ballpark. I’m not quite sure if “glass half-full” describes my personality type, but I am hoping for the best and expecting the worst!

Georgetown: High Match/Low Reach
50/50 Chance could go either way
Good Luck!

^he means low match/high reach.

Actually I think he was right the first time. High indicates a greater degree of difficulty than low in terms of chancing.
