Hi! I am planning on applying to Duke ED this year, and I am very anxious to know if I have a chance. Both of my parents attended so I am a legacy.
ACT: 34
Grades: My boarding school does not generate GPAs, but I have all A’s.
Extracurriculars: I am a tour guide at my school, on both my school’s newspaper and yearbook staffs, varsity soccer and lacrosse, and on Model UN. My focus, however, is on community service. I had 40 hours freshman year, 25 sophomore, and 50 hours junior year. I won the community service award for my school both freshman and junior year.

Double legacy really helps. With good essays and recs you have a great chance.

Double legacy is great, but aside from that I don’t see anything that makes me think you would be a particularly good candidate or strong fit for Duke. Community service and engagement is great and a strong theme, though 115 hours isn’t particularly high. Aside from your parents, why does Duke interest you, and how do you fit? What do you want to do? What resources at Duke particularly appeal to you?
