My mom finally let me make a chances thread! She is really paranoid about me "revealing my identity" to admissions officers. Ummmm... interesting mom. lol

So, for the actual chance thread...
I am an 8th grader applying for BS at Peddie and Lawrenceville, and DS at George School. I also need FA.

My interviews went very well. My English teacher wrote a really great rec and the other recs are probably good.

My essays showed my personality well and I like to write.

My hook is in competitive club swimming for over 5 years (year around swimming). I swim 3 hours a day, 6 days a week.

ECs: I've been in Student Council for 6 years. I work with a community service organization that helps pediatric cancer patients. I play the piano. I am on the Mathletes and Reading Olympics teams at my school, as well as in a club to help the school library. I worked on the Obama campaign. I also ran track for my school team.

I am also a Quaker (due to this being a kind of different religion, I have been asked by friends if I get up at 5 in the morning to churn butter and the answer is no, I dont.
Truthfully, Quakers are quite laidback).

My mom said that everyone in my school will instantly recognize me. At this point, I dont think it matters! Just looking for some feedback as I have not been allowed to say anything!

Haha, I think you have a fine chance. Of course, needing FA this year will be painful (and may be the ultimate tipper.. but don't think about that too much, it can't be helped), and your SSATs are awe-inspiring, lol! Why does everybody on CC seem to have 99th percentile?! it makes everybody else feel very, very little.. D':

your ECs are fine, and they seem to be deep while not being in EXCESS (aka those people who are ready to apply to grad school..), so you actually seem like a real person, instead of an ivy-bound (not saying that you aren't!) robot. xD

eep. 2 days left for you guys! (367 for me).. good luck!

.. oh, and chances threads are really.. inaccurate/misled. so yeah. it's just a general idea/critique, in your case, i think. & it's not really an issue if admissions officers recognize you now, because i'm pretty sure they've made their decisions. eek! nerve-wracking to think that, isnt it?

EDIT: haha, student council for 6 years seems a bit weird though. O_O well, moving on (people are malicious/touchy nowadays, understandably) .. best of luck!! (again!)

istoleyournose, I'm not a troll. 6 years brought me to starting in 3rd grade. That is when we started Student Council at my elementary school. Admittedly, this may not carry much wait, since it WAS 3rd grade and no one really cares about what you did as a really little kid, but I put it in there anyway.

just wondering.. why aren't you applying to more prestigious schools like HADES schools, Groton, Middlesex, Etc.? In my opinion you could get in.

I live in Pennsylvania and I don't know if I could really make it in BS being a plane ride away from home. Besides, it took enough to just get my mom to let me apply to boarding in general!

haha i feel ya. I live in PA too and the second my parents said I could apply to Exeter I did it all myself. After that they realized they didn't want me to leave and didn't let me apply anywhere else. My parents told me they would only let me leave if I went to one of the very best schools in the country so i hope i get in.

Quaker. Interesting. Does that count as a hook? I am just wondering about it. Do schools think about getting people from different religious groups?
