Please Chance My Son

My son applied to USC today and I am curious what his chances are. We are OOS- North Carolina
He has a 3.5 uw & 4.2 w GPA. He has 8 AP's, but didn't score very high on his ACT (22) after taking it twice. He is planning on taking it again next month, but I am not sure how much this score will hurt his chances. He has a pretty good list of EC's including: Varsity Football, National Honor Society, National Latin Honor Society, Beta Club, FCA, FFA and hours of community service through our church. He is also of Hispanic decent and he would be considered first generation, as my husband and I both did not attend college.
Any thoughts you have will be greatly appreciated!

His ACT is a little low - below midrange for accepted students. Hard to judge GPA since USC recalculates (some other threads tell how). But good GPA can help with low scores. I hope you have talked to admissions and that it is clear he is first generation student since that might get him a closer look than just his stats indicate. If you haven’t, I would call now to see if there are special programs he might qualify for that you need to indicate in application. Good luck.

His chances look pretty great. Maybe work on ACT, but I mean I would say getting it up to a 25 would be a guarantee in. He looks like a pretty high chance of admit at this point already.

Thanks for your input! He will be retaking his ACT on Dec. 13th and we are hoping that he can improve his score to at least a 25.
