are they really this old/outdated/dirty looking?
Bartley looks amazing compared to the other halls (but is still not very appealing). the other halls look like garbage.

they all look worse than my high school....

i dont really know what looks so dirty about this but if you go on a lot of college visits and look at all the classrooms, you will find ours are not that bad. and its not like a high school where they only have a few buildings to worry about. this is a university, and an old one at that and they are slowly updating everything. the classrooms are not nearly as bad as you are making them out to be.

I’m thinking “garbage” is harsh.
What schools are you comparing the facilities against?
Visit and make your own judgement.
I would say that facilities are on par or above other peer institutions.
But more importantly , base your judgement on the quality of the education you will receive and the value of the degree you will receive.
If Villanova is not up to your standards , move on to your next choice.

sorry if that sounded harsh haha… i love villanova but i guess after looking at BU’s new SMG building and BC’s business building i developed this image of what a college classroom looked like.

If you were my child I’d ask you … does it matter more what the classroom looks like or what learning happens in the classroom? A lot of older schools will have older classrooms … but so what as long as the classrooms and buildings are up to date technology wise.

and I would say both. it would definitely affect my mood. it is something else to take into consideration. I’d rather be in a state of the art classroom than one that looks like it belongs in a high school. and these classrooms do not look up to data technology wise

lol Ny0rker… but I agree with everything you’re saying. Atmosphere is important to a learning environment for sure.

Have you visited Villanova? I have, as well as about six other colleges, and I think the facilities are above average. But I’m definitely visiting again to see everything my tour didn’t get to- South campus and buildings besides Bartley for example.

yeah the outsides all looked great. i visited twice and am going back at least one more time so we’ll see. i’m going to look a little bit closer.

Ny0rker, actually the VSB has one of the more “up to date facilities” after visiting over 5 undergrad b schools inside the top 25 business week rankings. Additionally, this is coming from a prospective transfer student who attended an undergrad b school ranked inside the top 25 business week rankings as well.

the gross picture of the classroom you picked is st marys hall.its not really a fair one to point out because anyone on campus will tell you st marys is just a random mixture of everything that couldnt fit in other buildings. theres a dining hall, second storey, residences, pool, basketball court, pool tables, multiple churches, and a few classrooms. The band, singing, and other art groups practice there. I dont know anyone who has a class in St Marys. The building is old, and just a lot of stuff going on in it.No one would really consider it an academic building.
