Hello everyone, I was recently admitted to UBC and I have a few important questions about life after UBC. I am from Southern California btw.

If I graduate from UBC and wish to return to the US, how do employers look at a Canadian degree? I heard something about an American program at UBC. What’s that?

How do US graduate schools look at a degree from UBC? How prestigious is the school outside of Canada?

If I wish to remain in Canada and possibly become a citizen, how long do I have to live there before applying for citizenship?

How well respected is a degree from UBC in Canada? (from graduate schools and employers)

Finally, I want to study International Relations. How hard is it to get into the IR program? Apparently it is an interdisciplinary study.

Thanks for any responses. I am very excited about possibly attending UBC. It’s definitely one of my top choices.

srry not really answering but…you got in? i live in norcal, but im canadian, and i did a quarter at ucla, but left due to financial reasons that plagued me …ugh. but i really want to go to ubc, i applied in like jan…and its taking forever for them to get things(transcripts) and process.

how long did your stuff take?? and stats please…and thank you.:)

but as for your questions…coming from a canadian who went to an american college for a while, a lot of my professors were from different countries…getting degrees in different countries such as england, canada, china, and australia…so i wouldnt worry about that. plus my cousin is doing grad school in berkeley and attended ubc for her undergraduate. its a smooth transition:) i just really wanna get it

I applied in November I think, so it definitely took a while. I have a 3.7UW 4.2W and a 2130 SAT. I thought they needed my first semester grades, but I got admitted the day before I sent those grades. I also got a $500 scholarship. Good luck. check your ubc student services page for admission. i got admitted a week ago but haven’t received my official letter yet.

I think the age of adulthood is 19 in BC correct? So if I’m an adult in the US (18) then go to UBC, will i not be an adult in BC?
