It’s so hard for me to tell this. In my junior year, I tried my best on education, and was in top 25th. In the first semester of senior, everything is falling a part. When I received the news saying that there was a turmoil in my mom throat, and the doctor can’t do anything for that, I was desperate. I knew that UC application then became a dream for me, but I still applied for my mom. Recently, I received UCR letter told me that I was admitted. I am so lost right now. This is a very vulnerable and emotional with me. Please give me some advices. Gracias
If it looks like you will need some time with your Mother, instead of going to college in the Fall, you should contact UCR and explain the circumstances to see if they can grant you deferred admission.
JustOneDad has given you good advice. Schools will often defer admission if there is a family crisis. Also, if it has impacted your grades, they will want to know why. Make sure your teachers and guidance counselor know about this too. It’s important to make sure everyone knows that you are facing some challenges so they can cut you some slack. And tell your friends too - people are often so reluctant to ask for emotional support when they need it and are often surprised to discover that others want to help (and have sometimes experienced similar crises).
I’m so sorry for your and your family’s pain at this time.
