Public opinion--the sum of the attitudes or beliefs held by a majority of the population--is primarily expressed through the media or public opinion polls. Leaders and politicians are often swayed by it, believing that public opinion is everything. Yet true leaders should not listen to what the public thinks; they should follow their own convictions, whether or not the majority of their fellow citizens agree with them.

ASSIGNMENT: Should leaders follow their own convictions or submit to public opinion? Plan and write an essay in which you develop your point of view on this issue. Support your position with reasoning and examples taken from your reading, studies, experience, or observations.

Should true leaders act according to the public opinion or their own convictions ? Although many people may feel justified in asserting that are those who concede with their followers' opinions, I unwaveringly believe that true leaders should follow their own opinions. Three examples from my personal experiences and observations help lay strong ground from my aforementioned thesis.

From personal experiences we can glean many lessons and morals. After all, recorded history was once people's personal experiences. Whenever a school project or research is assigned for groups and me chosen leader, I adopt the method of the leader, who believes his ideas are the most important and most efficient. Having succeeded while applying this technique for years, I can firmly assert that true leaders shouldn't follow the beliefs of their followers.

Moreover,an observation in which my father is involved definitely proves my thesis.Once, my father's company had to make a choice about whether to stop or advance in producing a certain type of cheese. All the workers including my dad wanted to end its production. However their leader believed the opposite and wanted to continue this cheese's production, despite the low profit it caused. Surprisingly, my father's leader, who followed his conviction, proved to be correct when after a couple of months, the cheese's bloomed and caused copious profits.

Finally, my brother has always been encompassed with debacles. His futile characteristic can be greatly attributed to the fact that he always submitted to other's opinions. One incident, that I clearly remember, was when he once and forever was was elected captain of the football team. However his weak personality led to his demise. For those people, whom he followed blindly, were the people who caused his overthrow.

In a nutshell, because of these three reasons,I resolutely believe leaders should follow their convictions not others'opinions.

All those examples are totally made up. Honestly, I believe my essay sucks. Anyway I want a grade and some advices on how to improve it.
