Topic :should leaders respect public opinions or use there own convictions.

Essay: Samuel adams once said ," The future belongs to the leaders who respect public opinion." I ,myself, strongly believe that respecting public opinion is a sure route for the public leader to achieving success. The real question is , to what extend is this true. No one can say or even pretend to say that leaders who respect public opinions are not the successful few. I strongly believe that respecting public opinon is the most important feature for attaining success , simply because if respecting public opinona does not lead to succsess we would not have great examples like Abraham lincoln and Gorge bush

Abraham lincoln , as i Learned in my history book, is considered by many people , an expert on public opinion- what it was and how it could be managed. Lincoln took his time making decisions. Having made a decision, he said no more than what need to be said ; furthermore, he had an ear so finely tuned to public opinion that he was able to calibrate his own moves with astonishing skill
. He knew what the public wanted , and did what was best to please them. Lincoln was considered by many americans in his time as one of the people and had their full support. With the support of the people , lincoln could have moved mountains . Lincoln proved to us that respecting public opinion is the golden coin that could buy all the amount of success .

Former presiden of the u.s.a , gorge w bush has failed in respecting public opinon when he decided to start war on iraq. Public opinon at that time did not seem to concern Bush. All americans started campaigning against bush in the streets and even started singing chants like " war is not heroic , war is not patriotic ." Because all this was indifferent to him , he started losing the support of the people day by day . Studies have shown that his popularity decreased by a factor of 4 after this event . . I strongly believe that his failure in respecting public opinion is the reason why he lost his popularity among americans nowadays . Now i can say that Bush is an international example that showed is the importance of respecting public opinion.

Finally i totally agree with Mahatma Ghandi is saying , "in the absence of respect to public opinion, leaders become so strangely loyal to performing daily trivia until ultimately they become enslaved by it." As the examples of Abraham lincoln and Gorge Bush betoken , respecting public opinion is the auspicious course of action leaders must hold of.
