Psychologist Carl Jung said, "The more critical reason dominates, the more impoverished life becomes.... [When reason is overvalued,] the individual is pauperized." He felt that felying more on facts and rationality than on imgination and theory detracts from the quality of a person's intellectual life.

What is your view of the clain that knowing facts isn't as important as understanding ideas and concepts? Plan and write an essay....

----------------essay--------------------------
One of the great marvels of humanity is its ability to collect and organize a group of facts into a concept. Thus, my argument in the facts versus concepts debate is that good sound concepts must be based on facts. Therefore, knowing facts comes first, as the knowledge forms the underlying basis of our concepts.

And example showing the value of factual knowledge is science. Prior to the Renaissance, philosophers determined scientific laws through simple thought and common sense. For example, they deduced that the sun went around the earth, because it seemed to rise above the horizon in the morning and sink below the horizon in the evening. Also, philosophers decided that heavier objects fell faster than lighter objects because they were heavier. However, we know today that these imaginative, thought-out theories is incorrect.

The reason for this is a huge change in attitude during the Age of Enlightenment. For the first time ever, proofs were needed to prove hypotheses. Scientists began to use observable concepts, not just thought. Through this, we realized that the acceleration of an object did not depend on its mass. Galileo’s proof for this came from the fact that when two spheres were dropped from the Pisa Tower, the heavier of the tow reached the ground at the same time. Also, Copernicus used his telescope to observe the motion of the planets relative to the sun, and with this knowledge, determined that the Earth orbited the sun.

Our ancestors have showed us that knowing facts is more important than understanding concepts and ideas. Facts and knowledge are the foundation of a sound concept, and it has been proved historically that without observable facts, our concepts often go awry. Therefore, I believe that facts are of greater importance than ideas and concepts.

Thanks!

can someone please grade it, all i need is a number from 1-6
thanks

assuming the misspellings are typo's I'd say its a 5 or 6

It would give it a 5. It has a good chance of being a 6 if you can expand your examples.

It is basically a good essay but doesn't seem like a 6. You could use more examples, and there's something about the 2nd sentence that sounds more like a concluding sentence to me than an intro paragraph one.

The Message You Have Written Is Too Short! Please Lengthen your ^%# to about 10 characters...

darn...5

A 5 at the lowest I'd say. Could be a six. A thing I didn't like was that in the first paragraph, you wrote "Thus, my argument in the facts versus concepts debate is that good sound concepts must be based on facts." You shouldn't use "my" in an essay, and it doesn't sound very good to say "my argument is". Just say "Thus, good sound concepts must be based on facts." instead of all that stuff in front of it which breaks the continuity and makes it sound less professional.

I'd rate this a 4 or 5, potential for a 6 if you added more insight in your examples. I think that your examples are sufficient, but unless they're really insightful, a 6 is unlikely. Work on grammar in the actual essay, too. Your essay is still understandable, but clearer writing with less mistakes makes the grader more likely to give you the max score.

This is an above-average essay definately, but 6 essays that I've read are a step above.

im givin it a 11 out of 12... very good above average essay but kust not a 12.. grammer/sentence formation/ cud hav been better

It's a 5 :) It seems good enough, but it lacks the "lusteR" of a 6?
