The topic is: Is creativity needed more than ever in the world today?
Just as flood swollen rivers carve new paths for the river’s course, so has creativity changed the course of humanity. Possessing creativity skills is not only beneficent but also of paramount importance. In today’s fast paced society, creativity is needed more than ever before. Examples through history and media are cinema are very pervasive.
Japan’s recuperation after the second world war attests to the importance of creativity. After the devastating juggernaut of the war, it was was quite evident that Japan would never be able to rise to the power that it was; however, Japan achieved an almost chimerical feat. It made forays into the global consumer market, building cheap, fuel-efficient cars that revolutionized the automobile industry. In the 1980s, Sony launched the walkman that completely changed the music industry. For Japan, creativity was the bridge from misery to hope. Its fantastic revival from a destroyed country to one of the most powerful ones avers that creativity is vital.
Apollo 13, a movie chronicled on the seventh manned mission to the moon in the American Apollo Space Program, is a lovesong to creativity. Shortly after launch, one of the spaceship’s oxygen tanks exploded. The spaceship began to lose oxygen and electricity, and the carbon dioxide from the crew-members’ breathing began to poison the air. When the exigency was reported to Houston, members at the Space Station exploited their creativity to modify the lunar module into a lifeboat for the astronaut’s safe return to earth. If it weren’t for this creative solution, America would have lost three astronauts. Today, problems are on the rise- accidents are becoming more and more frequent; hence, creativity is needed more than ever.
As evident from the examples of Japan and Apollo 13, creativity is of paramount importance. With a huge surge in problems, more solutions are required, and creativity has become more important than ever.
