Please Help: A Couple Questions about Score Conversion for Writing Section

Hello Everyone,

I have a couple questions about the "raw scores" and their conversion for the writing section.

I was told that the "score" range from 25 to 80. How is this score calculated? Does this score reflect the raw score?
For example, if I got a raw score 45 (3 questions wrong). Is it equivalent to 70?

Also, I don't see how it is possible to get a raw score of 46? I mean if you get two questions wrong, you raw score should be 46.5, which bumps you to 47.

Please help me out.

Thank you so much.
Roger

The score range for writing is from 20 to 80. Your raw score (number correct - 0.25 * number incorrect, rounded to nearest integer) is converted using a table that is different for each test. The maximum raw score of 49 always corresponds to the maximum scaled score of 80.

A raw score of 45 could be a 70, but has ranged from 69 to 74 with 71 being the average.

You could get a raw score of 46 by omitting three questions and getting the remainder correct. (There are other possibilities).
