Hey, im currently going to community college in Washington State. It is my 2nd year and im looking to transfer soon. By the end of the fall quarter I should have a 3.2. Im now majoring in Business Administration even though I have taken a majority of pre-req's for pharmacy which was my first major.

What do you think my chances to get into...

University of Washington
University of Southern California (Marshall)
University of CaliforniaLos Angeles (Anderson)
New York University (Stern) (just because it has been a dream to live in New York)

I would really like to stay close to home. Anyone have any other recommendations for good business colleges in California I could get into? I also haven't taken the SAT's, do I have to take them to transfer? Thanks!

San Diego State has a solid business program. San Jose State is good for business, but it’s a commuter school. Do you want business or econ? UC Berekley is the only UC with an undergraduate business program (not business econ). You should apply to Washington State and Western Washington.

Chances are very low for NYU Stern, sorry to be blunt, but its better to be realistic than worrying about something you might not have a chance at.

yeah i usually don't tell people it's unlikely, but an oos CC applicant at UCLA with a 3.2 is pretty much a 'don't even apply' situation.

same goes for NYU Stern, A&S on the other hand might only be an extreme reach.

that's just from what little you posted and what i've read on these boards about people getting into those schools. maybe you have a good life story or something, i'm just basing that off your GPA and your status as a washington cc student

I agree about UCLA. California doesn't like OOS applicants in the first place, and being at a CC with a 3.2 will not be competitive enough. You should realize, also, that your GPA is likely to be "deflated" by schools you apply to: that is, your GPA is not going to be considered equivalent to a 3.2 at a 4 year univerisity by most schools' standards.

NYU Stern is another one that would be a big reach. I agree with elsi and suggest CAS if you really want to have a shot. I don't believe NYU has an official cut-off GPA, but I recall reading that most competitive applicants have a 3.5 or better. Given your current stats, you'll need some compelling reasons.

The University of Washington has a 51% transfer rate...you have a decent shot there and should definitely apply.

USC has a pretty low transfer rate (27%) and while they don't really care what state you come from (I don't thinK), you'll still be fighting an uphill battle, especially to get into Marshall.

If you are serious about those schools, I would recommend working on your GPA while you still have time and aim for a 3.5 or better. You should also consider studying for and taking the SATs, particularly if you want a shot at NYU. They encourage students to send in scores, and this year they've started to strongly recommend two SAT II scores from all applicants.
