Please help an asian Senior =(

I need 2 SAT II subject tests to send to Colleges. I'm applying to a lot of ivy league level schools and currently have a physics- 740 and math level II- 770. Should I retake the test in January? Or, are these scores good enough for ivy leagues?

There is no “good enough.” Those scores are fine, but there is no threshold score; the higher, the better.

So, retake if you think you can improve. If you don’t think you can, there’s no point.

Those two scores are definitely good enough for ivy leagues. If you are super confident you can get close to an 800 on the physics test and really want to waste that extra money for it, then by all means do so. It would be kind of pointless to pay that extra money to just raise your physics score to a 760 since it is still relatively the same.

Over all, I think you are better off worrying about making other parts of your application better (i.e. your essays) rather than worry about SATII scores that are already good.

also… I applied as a physics major, but have a few B+s in Physics on my transcript (I take IB Physics). I am hoping that perhaps taking the test again and getting a 790-800 on it would help my overall application.

Your scores aren’t bad, but as a physics major, you should ideally get 800 in both tests. The curves on these tests are pretty lenient, so the top colleges do often differentiate between a 740 and a 800, sometimes even between a 790 and a 800.
