Hey guys! I am a senior and I am applying to the SUNY schools
in New York. I have a few questions:

1.When I apply do I need to know my class rank?
2.Should a copy of my transcript be sent out after or before I apply, or is it part of the application itself? Can the college office at my school send it out or do I have to do that myself?
3. How do I send out my SAT scores? Can I use the site Collegeboard.com?
4.How long should the personal statement be for the suppliment applications?
5. What is early action, is it just as competetive as early decision?

Thank you so much your help is greatly appreciated!

If it asks, sure. But as far as I remember, when I applied two years ago I didn’t have to fill it out at all.

It’s a good question.
Case 1: Your transcript will be mailed out by the college office of your high school. I went to Francis Lewis (just in case you are from NYC HS). I basically filled out the SUNY application, and printed out the recipiet and brought it back to the college office. They did the rest for me (mailing out the transcript and stuff). I don’t remember if SUNY has access to the NYC HS students’ transcripts. I believe CUNY does.

Case 2: Your college office doesn’t do it. Then yes, you need to ask for an OFFICIAL (stamped) transcript mailed along with your application (you can do the application via Common or SUNY app).

You can use the collegeboard, and select the colleges you want to send out. Type in any SUNY school name. You can choose the components (each individual score too, right now). An alternative is that your high school has those on the transcript which I doubted. Also, my high school college offices keep track of the scores we received. We usually reported them and they will also mailed them out. But I say do the first way - via CB.

I don’t remember if there’s a limit. It should be a good one. Write it well.

Early action is non-binding. If you are accepted it you can still attend another college. But early decision it’s a legally binded. The opposite of early action - you must attend if you are admitted. Early decision is used for your first choice.

Remember to finish the supplment. I didn’t because I never intended to attend SUNY (I don’t mind right now).
I was admitted to Binghamton and Stony engineering, regardless. But without the completion of the supplemental I didn’t receive any finicnical aid, and by May I was told that they dropped my acceptance because (1) I didn’t response to the acceptance, (2) didn’t complete the supplement.
