Please help...Cable or DSL?

I don't download music or movies! I'm not allowed :(

If you get cable tv, it's a lot better to get the bundle price for cable tv/internet. If not, it's up for debate.

I just looked it up: SBC DSL is at 21 bucks per and Comcast is at 40 bucks after the 6-month 20 dollar price...

I think I'll prob end up going DSL

One final decision making question: Do I have to buy a lot of extra hardware (cables, modems) with either internet option?

Usually if you switch to DSL, they send you a package with a modem and filters and whatnot, so you usually don't have to buy anything extra unless you want DSL on multiple computers.

i have comcast cable (in a suburb) and it never slowed down on me.

GoldShadow,

That's like saying you only steal motorcycles but not cars

I wasn't saying it like that (I wasn't saying "I only d/l music, not movies!" it was more "I prefer downloading music to movies")

I could get into a large debate about how downloading music is not stealing (or movies for that matter... but I don't d/l movies because I prefer seeing them on DVD/video/TV screen/theater).

Downloading music does not hurt the industry.

Yeah I'm the same way GoldShadow. I could burn all the DVDs I wanted to, but I just don't because I prefer my nice DVDs for some reason.

I use DSL (MCI), and it falls off occasionally from its location and lack of proximity to the substation (it seems it is over five miles distant); in addition, the download and upload speeds are good, but this usually only happens when I am using Bittorrent to download movies or other applications like WMP (movies), Norton (virus updates)-straight downloads from websites themselves are somewhat slow compared to cable. I am unable to play games online, even though I have a 22" flatscreen with all the memory (2 GB) and space (900 GB) one would need, and would like to do so without the use of an XBox.
However, I seem to recall that cable is shared and less safe thatn DSL, although I do not know the actual answer.

I have DSL.
