Please Help! How do you do this type of question in the SAT Writing Section?

For the SAT writing section, there is this one type of question that gets me.

It goes something like this (from my memory)…
“The author is considering inserting this sentence into the passage…
‘…the quotation is in here…’
Should the author insert this quotation into the passage?”

And then the options are like…
A: Yes because…

B: Yes because…

C: No because…

D: No because…

Please Help! This question is always confusing, please give me tips on how you guys approach these problems.

It might help to focus on the reasons given rather than the yes it should be/no it shouldn’t be. You can usually eliminate any answer choice where the reason given doesn’t make sense with the passage (even if you think the yes/no part of the choice is correct). That’s the fastest way I’ve figured out to narrow these ones down.
