Please help! I'm going 2 send this in soon 4 columbia. Please give honest opinions!

^Agreed. The problem is presentation, methinks, not content.

ouch you guys are harsh on that poor kid

I disagree with is solely being a problem of presentation…the actual content is very cookie-cutter. The books, excepting Titus Groan, seem ripped right out of a high school curriculum rather than something someone would read in their free time. That “favorite required readings list” looks like it was half the books read–that devalues the concept of favorites. The summer activities are really unimpressive–high schoolers should relax over the summer, but at the same time they should make good use of their time. Some job or hobby would look more impressive than one book/museum visit.

Rather than fix the presentation, I’d suggest removing it. Just list for the first three prompts, and for your summer activities describe them so there’s a purpose behind it–something more substantial than “the book has educated me about courage, loyalty, and determination.”

I’m a senior in high school this year, so maybe I don’t have the experience to speak here. However, if I made a similar thread about my application and it was really bad without me realizing it, I would hope someone would point that out. Constructive criticism and honesty are what I would be looking for, so I’m trying to reciprocate that here.

This is from a while ago, not really relevant anymore

I only realized that now, haha. And that’s after reading through the whole thread. I’ll just copy and paste it on something similar to feel it was worth the effort. lol
