Hi Everyone,

This is my first post here. I am from India & like to pursue my MS in Computer science in US. I have been accepted in the following schools for the upcoming semesters.

University of Florida, Gainesville (45% tuition waiver)

Stony Brook University

University at Buffalo

Polytechnic Institute of New York University

University of Cincinnati (1 year MEng course; No thesis option)

My ultimate aim is to pursue PhD (in database), might be from a different university. Can you please help me chose my final destination?

Thanks a lot.

Hello, there is a specific forum for grad school discussion. You are currently in the forum for undergrads.

Go to main menu, scroll down page to Graduate & Professional School section. Post your question to the Graduate School forum.

Ohhh thanks a lot
Anyway, should I repost my query?

Guess you don’t need to as it seems to have been moved for you.

I have a daughter in CS grad school at UW-Madison. Sorry I don’t know these schools. Hopefully someone else will be along, check back each day, and do searches to see previous related discussion.

Did you investigate if they are strong in database and if there are prof’s you’d like to work with? Are these all research institutions?

Well, I think University of Florida might be a good choice. Think about reputation of those school, and the nice weather is also be considered. I am not an expert anyway.

Thanks a lot for your replies. I keep on researching on these schools. More replies are welcomed :). Plzzz help. Yes, Wisconsin is a wonderful school for CS & FL’s weather rocks!!

I vote for Buffalo – although it depends on what specific area you want to research. Look at the faculty to see the areas of specialization at each program to see which is best for you. And each professor should also have a web page where select publications are listed.

Yaaa Buffalo is very good in engineering but I feel its weather is a bit harsh. But job wise/ in terms of phd scope, it will help one immensely, I guess. What do u say? And what about Stony brook?

I vote for UF. Good engineering reputation, beautiful people, overall highly rated school.

Thank u for ur opinion. Really grateful.
