Hi ^-^
I'm a transfer student trying to figure out which major i should go for,

I was planning out the classes i need to take for my first semester in cal.
And i ended up with a thought; i can not do anything before i decide on which major i will declare.

I'm thinking of either Political Science Specializing in International Relations, or PEIS.

Is there any one who can help me out?

what do you want to do with a degree in poli sci ? what do you want to do after college as a PEIS major?

at face value, i’d probably just choose poli sci. since you seem to have a better idea what you’d do within the major. any extra info would help us help you

I can help you out. L&S woooo

Omg @ OP. I don’t knwo EITHERRRR. I’m supposed to know…I think I know…just like you though, I’m totally undecided. I went to a major workshop and they said “if you look at the upper div’s in any major and they make you happy/interested/curious, look into that. Then compare some that make you do that and assess your interests/needs. Remember, majors don’t always need to correlate with what you do with your life. It’s a chance to study something that you enjoy.” That’s what they told me :D

I suggest PS… because PEIS is interdiscplinary, there’s no seating reserved for them except in the IAS department (which isn’t saying much). So if a PEIS major needed to take a PS or Econ class, they’d have to waitlist during Phase I and still might not get in.

On the other hand a PS major or an Econ major would automatically get into their classes.
So if you’re interested in Econ too. Just do a double in PS and Econ. Seems like a safer bet. :)

[I’m just speaking on practical terms. If you like PE>PS/Econ, then do it. But if you’re ambivalent, signing up for classes is a huge part of a major (especially in light of budget cuts)]
