Please help me identify the safeties, matches, and reaches in the UCs?

@Undercrackers I agree with you. I am hoping I can get into UCD, UCI, or UCSB. Based on my stats, these schools seem to be matches and they have decent pre med programs as well. Do majors like Cell bio, genetics, and neuroscience satisfy the prerequisites for med school as well?

If you are referring to http://projects.dailycal.org/grades/ note that “biology” refers only to courses 1A, 1AL, and 1B, which are common to various biology majors (e.g. MCB, IB) and pre-meds. I.e. it is a course heading, not a major.

However, http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-berkeley/2071932-grade-distributions-in-prerequisite-courses-for-gpa-based-goals.html does indicate that the grade distributions in typical pre-med courses at UCB leave only about a quarter of the students with A- or higher grades in them.

@ucbalumnus Interesting links…I like the odds for getting an A as molecular and cell biology major at Cal. But then again, I don’t expect to get in there :stuck_out_tongue:

Most biology majors satisfy pre-med requirments. But you can always take those classes whenever you want. Regardless of your major.
