Okay, so I didnt get into UT-Austin even though I wanted to do so badly:( Its really stressing and Im in a huge dilemma now.

UT said that I have an option called CAP where I can transfer to UT my second year, but I must have a 3.2 at a UT-affiliated school freshman year (I live about 15 mins away from UT-Panamerican). I would really do that, but I am tired of living here at home where there are a lot of ignorant people. I also dont want to live with my parents or else Ill end up wanting to die or something from stress. They said that if I stay here I have to get a job, and that might ruin my GPA (which would make being in CAP totally worthless). Having a 3.2 GPA at panam doesnt sound too bad, but I need help deciding.

* Should I stay at UTPA and do CAP and then transfer?
* Should I go to another UT school and still do CAP (like UT-Dallas, UT-SA, etc)
* Should I start thinking about my other safe school? I have TS-San Marcos BUT Ive heard its a party school. Im assured admission but the deadline is very soon.
* Should I just search another completely new school?

Also, I did the FAFSA for UTPA and TS, but idk if I can do it for more universities and colleges since I already submitted it.
Please help me as I am running out of time to make a decision.

CAP at UT-SA sounds like a pretty nice option. San Antonio would be a great place to be and is only 75 miles from Austin, so you could run up there from time to time to continue to assess the UT-A experience during your UT-SA year. It’s pretty late to apply someplace else and find very appealing options. Call the financial aid offices at the new schools you consider and ask them about FAFSA.

I’m confused about something…are you saying that if you go to a school like UT-SA or UT-D then you won’t have to work, but if you live at home and go to school at UT-PA, then your parents will expect you to work a lot of hours at a part-time job? If so, that is very weird. If so, go to UT-Dallas or UT-San Antonio.

But, maybe I misunderstand…

BTW…how much will your parents contribute towards your education.

Thank you for replying. I think I might stay here at UTPA after all. Yes, my parents said that I would have to work if I stayed here and not if I went somewhere else( Which IS not very coherent), but they said that if it made me get a good, GPA, then I wouldn’t have to work. Maybe I can even get work-study or something.
I’m worried about the College algebra and Calculus courses though. Can I take them my freshman year? I already got accepted but haven’t signed the contract yet because of that.
