Please Help Me With My College List:

I would like to know if I have selected appropriate schools for my major and grades/test scores. Please comment.

My unweighted GPA is 3.06 (through the first 3 years of high school)
My weighted GPA is 3.83
SAT: 2200/2400
ACT: 31

My 1st quarter GPA for senior year is a 3.71, much improved from the first 3 years

SAT Subject Tests:
Math II: 770
Physics: 690
US History: 780

I would like to major in some kind of engineering, preferable civil or environmental.

My College List:

University Of Massachusetts - Amherst
Northeastern University
Clemson University
Virginia Tech
University Of Pittsburgh
Texas A&M University
Purdue University
New Mexico Institute Of Mining and Technology
North Carolina State University
Universty Of Vermont

Please suggest other schools or criticize my college list!

Thanks!!

I would say you're more than qualified for a lot of these schools.

Your list should include

Rice University Owls
Virgina Tech Hokies
Georgia Tech Yellowjackets
Purdue University Boilermakers
Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering Phoenix

what exactly is your class rank? how hard is your school? how hard was your courseload?

Just based on your stats alone, you should be applying to more rigorous schools.

I'm ranked 125th out of 250 students (so at the 50th percentile) but my school is in the top 200 high schools in the country.

I have taken all honors and AP classes!

His GPA is not great. I think his list is a good one, but could stand to add a couple of reaches.

sorry my SAT score is incorrect, it's actually 2020

considering your academics..i feel your list is more or less OK!!!!No additions!!!!...Does amherst provide engineering degrees????Pardon me for my lack of knowledge!!!!

yeah UMass Amherst has engineering, Amherst College does not....those are 2 different schools, UMass is the Massachusetts' state college, Amherst is a private school

thanks for updating me!!!!!

in response to your pm, I think you're qualified for all of them, although for the public schools I don't know how hard they are to get into OOS. You only have one school (Northeastern) that has an admit rate of <50%, so you definitely have good chances.

as for Pitt, I would guess that second reviews aren't uncommon for schools with rolling admissions but I'm not sure. there could be a lot of reasons they would do that.

ok, thanks for the responses!

bump.....please help me!

bump......

besides Texas A&M also try University Texas also!!! They have a great engineering program

Why do its say Clemson '13 on your account?

because this post was from 4 years ago?? haha
