I would like to know if I have selected appropriate schools for my major and grades/test scores. Please comment.

My unweighted GPA is 3.06 (through the first 3 years of high school)
My weighted GPA is 3.83
SAT: 2200/2400
ACT: 31

My 1st quarter GPA for senior year is a 3.71, much improved from the first 3 years

SAT Subject Tests:
Math II: 770
Physics: 690
US History: 780

I would like to major in some kind of engineering, preferable civil or environmental.

My College List:

University Of Massachusetts - Amherst
Northeastern University
Clemson University
Virginia Tech
University Of Pittsburgh
Texas A&M University
Purdue University
New Mexico Institute Of Mining and Technology
North Carolina State University
Universty Of Vermont

Please suggest other schools or criticize my college list!

Thanks!!

you can get into much higher ranked schools that are strong in the areas you are looking at

no offense but no ivies or high reach schools?.. come on
u have a good chance as long as u have a decent ECs

bump...thanks to all who have helped so far

in addition, my class rank is at the 50th percentile, would that help me or hurt me? my high school is among the top 200 high schools in America

I am sorry I am not that familiar with your school choices...with that said...you have great SAT's and ACT. Your GPA may be a bit problematic but you can always explain that in your essays.
Good Luck! :)
chance me back...thanks!

im just confused on 1 thing, how is your unweighted GPA 3.06 but weighted 3.83.. thats a huge jump lol

i mean at least in my school a 3.83 would be a high A+ while a 3.06 would be a low B-

this is how the grading scale at my school goes:
(unweighted/weighted)
A+ 4.33/5.33
A 4.00/5.00
A- 3.66/4.66
B+ 3.33/4.33
B 3.00/4.00
B- 2.66/3.66

etc....

ohh alright.. so whats your numerical GPA exactly ? around an 85?

yeah, I have an 85

you are shooting WAY too low my friend.

sorry everyone, I didn't notice that but my SAT score is actually 2020, NOT 2200

you're in at like all of those schools
At least apply to Rice and Fu Foundation at Columbia

with a 31 you can really look anywhere. sure ivies will be reaches but you still have a "shot". plenty of schools have engineering so

just throwing out some schools- michigan, lehigh, GW, idk what you really want but

What kind of environment are you looking for? For a larger school, Cornell has excellent engineering. A smaller school that is also good is Harvey Mudd, one of the LAC's in Claremont, CA.

will my grades be a problem? (basically a B student)

I don't really care about school size

you don't have any real reach schools. try to find at least one to apply to because you never know...
since you are going to major in engineering, try to bump your physics satII score up, 690 is a little on the low end, but still sufficient.

It would be helpful to know the section-by-section scores of your SAT I, which was a 2020/2400.

Dude come ooooonnnnnn
u can apply to better schools than these
u have a really high SAT score and even if u have like 3 or 4 EC's u have a good chance of getting into ive's
anyway all of these colleges are matches for u dude
good luck
chance me
