I need help in writing a note that tells a school I have chosen not to attend in the fall. Usually, those post cards that inform them would be enough, but this school has really been great to me, sends me a lot of personal stuff, lots of e-mails from teachers, and I want to write a short but nice note saying I won't be attending but thanks. Can anybody help me? Please?

tell them thank you for all that they have done, that you appreciate it. be sincere. however you will be attending _____ school. something else…

i really have no idea…but it might help :)

Tell them that it was a very tough decision, and mention all the great stuff you love about them, but then tell them you decided to go with X school because… They will appreciate your honesty and it will help them to improve their program. Remember, you are not the first student to turn them down, and you won’t be the last…and they themselves had to turn down many as well. I don’t think the schools take it as hard as we feel they do. They know this is how it goes…they have been doing it for a looong time!

PS–maybe even call them and talk to them–skip the note, or make it a thank you note after you call them

Find a copy of the school’s rejection letter and use the same wording. ;)

Just kidding. But really, you are in a similar situation that they were in pre-March10. Just because you are turning down their offer doesn’t make them “not good enough,” just like when they turn down a student’s application it doesn’t mean that the student is “not good enough.”

Neato that is the best answer yet!
