I just got my Deerfield checklist email and I realized that I have not sent in my graded essay (dumb move on my part). So I sent it as soon as I got the email.

Just wondering if this will bring down my chances.

Also for another school, I sent in my 6th and 7th grade transcripts personally (It's the official one) via mail. I did this because my current school won't send any transcripts other than my current. The school wouldn't consider it non-legitamate since it was sent by a student, right?

Well, I had faxed my grades myself to Exeter and they counted it, so it depends, I also faxed my transcripts to Andover and Deerfield today… I hope they count it, because my school wouldn’t do it unless I paid them… Is that weird? Or do other schools make you pay too?

That is weird, no schools shouldn’t make you pay.

Yeah I don’t know if that will lower your chances. I forgot to send in my parent responses for the SSAT app, didn’t realize until a couple days later. Kind of worried about that.

I have the same feeling too! I submitted parts of my application and then I go back and realize; wait! I forgot this, or that was the wrong answer (as in I clicked no instead of yes or 3 instead of 4) Would they change it if we called them? And for the grades, I had to pay and fill out all these forms, I was like… wow, I’ll just fax it myself! Fingers crossed it works!

You too! And I think you might want to call them if you marked something important wrong, like which grade you were applying to. But I made a grammatical error so there’s no point in me calling to inform them, they’ll just be irritated by that.

About having to pay for your transcript, if you were my kid, I’d be down at the school raising heck for something like that - it is NOT okay! But, since you also need a recommendation from someone in the school administration . . . well, I guess you’re lucky I’m not your parent! :D

I would check with Deerfield and Andover, though, just to make sure they’ll accept a transcript not sent by the school.

Deerfield sent me an e-mail yesterday that said that I had not submitted my short answers and essays (I decided to not apply to Deerfield), and that they would still accept them by February 1st and I wouldn’t be penalized. I wonder if other schools like Exeter and Andover are doing this as well…

@azpandaman, You should apply to Deerfield while you have the opportunity. I am a freshman and I love the school. The academics are challenging, we have soo many extracurriculars, the facilities are amazing, the students are smart and it is easy to make friends. We are in a beautiful valley surrounded by Hills and the views are breathtaking. You will love it here. If you get in, you can see if it is a good fit during revisits. You learn a lot more about the schools during revisits. I got into 3 HADES schools and chose Deerfield after revisits. You will get the same amazing education without the stress that is mentioned on these boards that you might have at some of the other schools.

Yeah there was a problem with my school report, do you know if I will penalized at schools like Andover? My counselor is going to resend it Monday.
