So when I applied to Yale EA, I got a LOR from an additional recommender and I sent that letter to all my schools I’m applying RD. But I just found out that he mentioned Yale in his letter. Would this be a flat out rejection from all the schools I applied? Would it annoy the admission officers if there is another school’s name on the LOR? I’m sorry my grammar is so messed up cuz I’m so frustrated right now.
No, I’m sure it will be fine. Colleges are much more lenient with mistakes made by school officials and recommenders, especially considering the fact that this is an extra letter of recommendation. As long as it doesn’t say anything bad about you, I’m sure mistakes such as the one you listed will not negatively Impact you.
You bring up a genuine concern, I would like to know the answer to this as well. I mentioned to one of my teachers that I need a recommendation for UW Madison but I assigned him to some other schools as well, but I haven’t read his letter so I wouldn’t know if he put the school’s name on it.
The question to ask is this, “Do you really think that each RD school thinks you are only applying to that one school?” Of course not. And if your stats are that good, the other schools are expecting that you are applying to some schools, such as Yale.
My guess is they will have a good chuckle and a few will try to “steal” you from Yale! Nothing like competition to get one focused.
