So I got 3 letters of recommendations. 2 from junior year teachers and 1 senior year teacher. We have to tell our guidance dept. which letters we want them to send to each school we're applying to and I told them to send my 2 junior teacher letters. The senior teacher one was much shorter and less personal than the others. But my guidance dept., known to be sloppy, sent all 3. And since Harvard only asks for 2 rec letters, I'm worried they'll just pick 2 out of the 3 to read, and decide to read the senior one. Is there anything I could do?

Not to worry; I would imagine that Admissions would read all three letters, especially if one of those letters was much shorter than the others.

but if the senior one doesn’t add anything, and is basically useless, won’t that have a negative effect on my application?

You’re seriously overthinking this. Relax.
