I was a pretty good student in high school and got accepted to a great state university as a chemistry major. A year later I failed out and decided that wasn’t the path for me so now I’m at a community college. I intially found a program that sort of fit my interests but now I just lack the motivation to get a associates degree in the field due to difficulty finding jobs, not having personality fit for the job, etc. It’s too late to drop my classes with a refund and I’m just thinking of not going to class bc I can’t continue any more. Am I required to list both colleges on my resume without a gpa? Should I even try to get good grades this semester and list the gpa I got? I just think it’s more worth it to find a retail/fast food job/think about what to do with my life instead of studying for pointless classes if I’m not even going to get a degree. Would failing out of community college be against me in getting a retail entry level job? I got above a 3.5 in high school but in college I just lack motivation to pursue a stable academic path
Make sure you withdraw properly so you don’t get a transcript full of F’s. That would really hurt you if you wanted to try school again later.
Entry-level retail probably doesn’t even care if you attempted college. I would not put either school on a retail-oriented resume. Put things that make you look good – if they even require a resume, which some places might not, for minimum wage type jobs.
Not even just the college without the gpa?
Your previous posts say you graduated from a community college with a certificate in something – is that true? That would be something to list.
I guess
I never saw retail jobs asking about your education. You could just not put it on your resume - it’s not like you need an education to sell clothes.
Alternatively - why not do well in CC and transfer to a real college?
Even if you cannot get a refund, you should be able to withdraw from school to avoid the GPA hit.
If you ever try to go to college again, you must list all schools attended and provide transcripts, so try not to flunk everything on purpose.
Also, and I mean this only as a gentle suggestion since I don’t know you, but “No matter where you go, there you are.” If you have depression or a personal issue holding you back from succeeding in school, you will still have the same problem at a retail job. Don’t expect that working is a substitute for a counselor if you need one.
