I was admitted ED to my top choice school, and obviously I couldn’t be happier. I also currently have a job at a fast food place, which coincidentally was a big part of my common app essay (talked about my growth and how the job was a part of it). However, circumstances have since changed, and the setting at my workplace is very toxic. I definitely want to quit my job, however with it being such a crucial part of my common app essay/activity list, I wasn’t sure whether my admission would be rescinded for that. I just wanted to see if anyone had any insight on if I was allowed to quit my job/stop an ec… I’ll def keep working if quitting would revoke my acceptance. Thanks, and any help is appreciated!
Quitting your part time job will have zero impact on your ED admittance. Being healthy, able to continue to focus on your senior year grades and have fun is what matters! If having a job is important for college spending money, then find a new job with a healthier environment.
Congrats on your acceptance !!!
You will not be rescinded because you quit your job. Go ahead and quit if the job has become toxic and don’t give it a second thought.
As others have said, don’t worry at all about doing what’s best for you on this front. It isn’t like dropping a class, where the college is expecting to see it on your final transcript. Nobody at your college will ever revisit whether you continued in the job that you described in your essay; and even if this information somehow reached them, they wouldn’t care. Give the toxic job the old heave-ho and enjoy the rest of your senior year; and congrats on the acceptance!
Unless you serve the AO and they get sick then zero impact. Ask yourself the question… “how would they know”?
But keep your grades up all senior year,to prevent yourself in getting academically rescinded. Congratulations.
