Wake Forest
Wash U at St Louis
William & Mary

Thank you guys so much for helping me!!!

guys, im seriously desperate right now, please help me

You sound literally exactly like me I’m also a junior currently freaking out too. Your scores look good for most of your schools except georgetown, upenn, and wash U but that can easily be fixed if you retake them. As far as your gpa you just need to do as well as you can this year and get it as high as you can cause there’s nothing you can do to change your past years grades. Everything else looks good! Just try to relax you are totally going to get in maybe not everywhere, but to a lot of great schools! Good luck! Please chance me back!

You’ll be fine, chill.
Probably not Ivy material, but hey, there is more to life.

Speaking of which, you might want kill something on that unnecessarily long EC list and pick up a cool/fun hobby instead. While they may not be “bling-y” on paper, a regular activity that you legitimately enjoy doing will make the interviews next year so much more enjoyable. If you can be relatable to your interviewer and can talk about things you enjoy doing, rather than just nervously rattling off accolades you’ll seem more personable and lively. (And get to talk to a smart person for like an hour about stuff you like, it’s really cool)

Just got into Boston College Honors (still waiting on the Ivies) with one of my ECs being “biking in the park” and zero clubs (like seriously none). Granted my Academics were marginally better. 2160, 4.66 out a 5.0 gpa. five-5’s so far.

You’ll be fine, chill.

omg stfu you’re a great sudent, have some confidence!

You are a great student, please don’t be so hard on yourself. With great essays, you’ll most likely get into all of the high match schools. Good luckk

Narrow down the list a little. You have almost 20 schools here. You have plenty of time so get this number to around 10-13. Congratulations on the great test scores! Definitely retake both but it looks like you might want to use the SAT for college admissions (Make sure you take the old one and not the NEW Hamster SAT unless you go the ACT route instead!)

Thank you guys so much!! I really appreciate it!

Your GPA and ECs are concerning. GPA could be higher; usually a GPA like yours would be fine, but a rank of top 20% won’t cut it for highly selective schools. Laundry list of ECs, lacks interest. You show community involvement but not passion. Im not sure what first generation?? means, but if you are an actual first generation student, meaning neither of your parents attended college in the US or internationally, then that is a great hook and will help your app significantly.

Thank you guys so much! I really appreciate any feedback!!!

What is your home state? How much will your parents be able to pay for school? I think you have a great chance at any of these schools but please check your cost of attendance and the likelihood of getting aid (if you need it.) For instance I’ve learned on this forum that NYU is famous for its tightfistedness. IMO you should find some safety schools where you would be among the top students admitted. Those are the schools likely to give you money. Even if you don’t need aid find a couple of safeties you would be happy to attend. I notice you have two state of VA schools on the list so consider VA Tech and JMU, they have Finance and you have a high chance of admission. If you are not in VA look at some of your state schools for financial safeties.

Hey guys, my home state is PA. I will be applying to Penn State and U Pitt as some of my safeties! Thanks guys!!

I think you stand a pretty good chance at most of the schools on your list. Your test scores are pretty outstanding anways so if you do better or worse your in good shape. Your class rank might be an issue, but as of late, less and less high schools have been reporting GPA so that might not be as big a concern as some think. Also, being a first generation is a plus (I’m sure your parents are very proud!). I’d say just take a breather, do the best you can the rest of high school, and let the chips fall as they may.

YOU WILL BE FINE:)

Chance be back by chance?

or UChicago / UCLA / JHU / UW-Madison / Rochester (WILL CHANCE BACK IF LEFT LINK!!!) if the above doesn’t work.

Hey guys, is there anyway I can improve my chances or do anything this year to help my chances?? Thanks guys!!

The only way to improve your chances is to cut your list in half. Make sure to demonstrate interest at these schools. (Lehigh, Syracuse, American) You seem over qualified for some and as a result, you might get rejected for yield protection. have too many schools on your list. What state are you in? If you are out of state, unless you can be full pay, take UCLA off your list.

My family and I are willing to pay any tuition for any school as long as I get in, money is really not an issue for me. I live in PA. Also, the schools I have listed are just ones I have been looking at, not necessarily the set ones I will be applying to. However, right now, my top choices are Stern NYU, Gtown, and BC

I don’t have anything of real value to add, except you should get into most with places like UPenn, and Georgetown being a reach, but, only 20-25% with a 3.7 UW? That is an extremely competitive high school :P(This is good!)

@ImperialDeat‌ thank you so much for the kind words! I think I’m more towards the 15% now that I am thinking about it.

Also, do you think my chances will increase for any of the schools if I apply ed or ea? I’m currently deciding whether to apply ea to bc and gtown or ed to somewhere else. Any advice?

I really don’t think you have anything to worry about. I was just as freaked out as you are my junior year, but your stats show that you are committed to your education. The best advice I ever got when I was applying to college was to think of it as a business transaction. Universities want students that will do well and go on to have careers that will get their names out there. Basically, you are walking advertisement. Your high school record shows that you would be a very good investment, so don’t fret. As the student, you will want to enroll (in other words, make a business deal) with the school that will benefit you the most, so keep that in mind when deciding which college you actually want to attend. I’m sure you will be accepted into all the ones you apply to. Good luck!!
