Hello, I am an international student who just got accepted to both SVA and Pratt for their undergraguate program. I want to major in BFA illustration in college, but I am not sure which school is better?? I love NYC, and both attend to be there, I am really struggled.

Can’t tell you which is better for illustration, but can tell you that SVA is in Manhattan while the Pratt campus is in a fairly isolated part of Brooklyn, with limited choice in subway service to Manhattan. If you are looking for a New York experience, this may influence your decision.

those are both good schools. One difference is that at Pratt all art/design students take a shared foundation year; at SVA you start your major right away. The foundation year allows you to learn more about art and design before choosing your major, and also lets you get to know students in other areas. But if you feel very certain of your major you might like the SVA approach . . . different philosophies.
One of the reasons many Pratt students like going there is being able to live on a lovely campus, yet being able to get into the city easily (yes, you have to take 2 subways but it’s not long.)
best of luck.

^^^ That’s not true. First year at SVA all majors except Film or idk creative writing? Take the same foundation year courses. So you’ll see people from other majors like graphic design, cartooning, fine arts in your courses. And you’ll see those same people in each of your classes because you’re choosing from a schedule block.

I was at SVA my first year and didnt learn illustration until the second.
