So i knew registering on Sep. 3 was crappy and all the classes would be taken, but I'm in Sixth and I had no idea that the CAT 1 writing course would be full. what do i do? Doesn't every Sixth college freshman need to take CAT 1? Should I waitlist and hope somebody drops? The discussions only have 15 people so the 10% rule means only 1 will drop and that's not even guaranteed. I HAVE to take it right? Because winter quarter Sixth freshman take CAT 2 and spring CAT 3 so if I don't get into CAT 1, then what?

im pretty sure for classes like that, if they see waitlisters, theyll open up spots.

for DOC 1 (for tmc kids) they went from 10 spots to 12 to 14 now.

Waitlist it. Even if you don’t get into that discussion, the TA’s will try to work things out to get you somewhere if spaces anywhere open (If they’re cool, and usually they’ll try).

I took the CAT courses last year and people get in from the waitlists sometimes; spaces magically appear lol, plus some kids just stop showing up etc. Also if people are late on payments they are dropped from their classes (Payments are due on the 17th).

K thank you so much (especially for the fast response). I just adjusted my schedule so that I got into a discussion where I’m #1 on the waitlist. Here’s hoping I’ll get in.
