<p>Does anybody actually drop classes like CAT1 or DOC1? If i can secure spot #1 on a waitlist (CAT1=15 people), should I attempt it, or just play it safe and sign up for a really crappy hour?</p>
<p>Signing up for classes is possibly the most frustrating thing I've done in my life.</p>
<p>At #1, you’re probably fine. I have waitlisted MMW at position #1 and 2 and got in both times. Waitlisting the writing GEs is definitely risky, in my opinion. My MMW TA said that usually around 3 people drop each section and that’s it. So yeah if you’re #1, go for it. If you’re #5, I’d find another option.</p>

<p>Generally speaking, do you usually have to wait until the first two weeks of class to get a definite answer as to whether or not you made it off the waitlist?</p>
<p>Oh yeah you’re fine at number 3. I would be shocked if you didn’t get in. </p>
<p>Sometimes you have to wait several weeks… sometimes you have to wait a few days. But stay on the waitlist at least during the first week of classes because a lot of people drop then.</p>

<p>Thanks! I’m much more confident about waitlisting that class now. I’m position #1 on the waitlist, but CAT 1 discussions are only 15 people, not 30 like MMW. Hopefully I’ll still get in. I signed up for an 8:00am slot- hopefully somebody will decide they like sleep too much and drop! :D</p>
